BC reports 96 new COVID-19 cases, a hospital outbreak
61 people in the hospital as summer ends with the election
BC recorded an additional 96 cases of COVID-19 on September 22, a decrease from the last few days when the province embarked on an election campaign.
The new cases bring the total number of active people to 1,465, with 61 people in the hospital, 22 of them in intensive care. Public health officials say one outbreak is being treated in a single unit at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, a total of four outbreaks in acute care and twelve in long-term care and assisted living facilities.
No new deaths or additional outbreaks have been recorded in the community, despite the provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says there are still events in the ward. BC recorded 366 cases from Friday through Monday, September 21, and continued a series of days with positive tests near 100.

“The start of fall is the time for us to regroup and reset our COVID-19 routines and prepare for the colder, wetter months,” Henry said in a statement. “As we move inward, the activities we do and the layers of protection we use need to be adjusted to ensure we are protecting ourselves, our friends and family, especially those most susceptible to serious illness are.”
