Big White Ski Resort Ltd. appointed Josh Palmer to the position of communications manager who is responsible for working with the sales, marketing and guest services teams to create content for the ski and bike business and all the things that are part of this important tourism industry. Drs. Kevin and Susan Holroyd have been practicing holistic chiropractic in West Kelowna for 21 years under their company name, Holroyd Family Chiropractic. They have now bought their popular clinic and moved to a new location, just across from their old practice at 2418 Drought Road in the heart of downtown West Kelowna. Keven has been a volunteer with the Kelowna Gospel Mission for eight years. Awards

A Kelowna-based human resources (HR) professional was named a finalist for the 2019 Rising Star Award. Miranda Birkbeck, HR Consultant at First West Credit Union, was selected by BC & Yukon’s Chartered Professionals in HR (CPHR) for the award, which recognizes young HR professionals who make a significant contribution to the industry. Birkbeck was selected in recognition of her contributions to First West in helping improve its HR practices, including implementing the company’s new application tracking system and proposing to create the first harmonized employee referral program.

Krystyna Bellamy is now retired after owning and running the Bellamy Clinic of Massage Therapy for the past 30 years with her husband Lyle. She has now published her first book on Amazon.com, Never Young, A True Story, the story of a young girl who grew up in a small farming community in Poland. Her childhood is constantly being stolen from her by extreme hardship and poverty. Nevertheless, her optimism grows and she continues hopefully. It’s a compelling story that explores the adaptability of her mind as she searches for a better life. This story takes place in a different time and place, but the message is universal and timeless. The Lioness Club is a hard working service club that supports many local charities. Over the past year, Lioness membership has declined as some members have unfortunately been lost while others have moved away. Okanagan College business students took four podiums at the Enactus Western Canada Regionals. OC took first place in three challenges, the CWB Financial Education Challenge, the Scotiabank Environmental Challenge, and the TD Entrepreneurship Challenge. The college also took second place in the Scotiabank Youth Empowerment Challenge. The OK students also made it onto the podium in their categories at the Western Canadian Business Competition (WCB). WCBC is a comprehensive undergraduate business competition in which teams of students are tasked with managing a complex simulated business scenario over a hypothetical period of eight years. students Hannah Fiechter, Brett Loeppky, Mason rice and Natasha Walters 1st place for your strategic plan and 3rd place in the overall competition. On The Lawn, powered by BDO, is expanding its popular Lawn Bowling Charity Tournament for young professionals from a three- to four-week event to raise funds for Elevation Outdoors. This event aims to try something new while making a difference in the community by raising over $ 78,000 for disadvantaged youth across the valley. For 2019, the teams will play two weeks instead of three weeks in July and August, with 40 teams now able to participate. More teams mean more financial support. The proceeds will help Elevation Outdoors launch its ten month leadership program in September. The team registration goes on sale on March 29th.
