“We are very excited to have Danny on our team,” said Ross. “He brings wonderful energy and a lot of experience from shows all over the world.”
Ross said the fun, upbeat musical about self-discovery stays loyal with a peppy score and playful story, while Elle Woods responds to being dumped by her boyfriend who goes to Harvard to study law. Determined to get him back, Elle uses her charms to get into Harvard Law School and proves herself to the world.
In the new junior production of Crowning Lil Miss Cutie, written by Ross, more than 21 junior cast members will take the stage for a unique theatrical experience that they will share with the audience.
The job of the annual Young Performers Summer Program is to provide prospective Kelowna actors and singers ages six to 18 with the opportunity to develop their talents and skills, and then test and train them on stage.
After benefiting from classes and coaching, the young people will run the entire show themselves once it comes on stage.
Legal Blonde starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Mary Irwin Theater.
Tickets are available through the Rotary Center for the Arts at 250-717-5304.
Miss Cutie will take over the same stage for matinee performances from Friday to Sunday and entry will be made through a donation.
This is the sixth summer young artist program hosted by Bumbershoot, a nonprofit, registered nonprofit theater company founded in Kelowna in 2009.
The summer program for young artists complements the regular season of four productions.
