Restaurants are constantly struggling with sales in February after customers hibernate after an exciting holiday season with the onset of winter.
But a popular festival that has taken the Okanagan by storm for several years is helping restaurants survive this dreaded month.
The British Columbia Restaurant and Food Services Association (BCRFA) is bringing back Dine Around Okanagan this year, which will feature more than 50 restaurants in the area. While things will be a little different this time due to the pandemic, many restaurants are adapting to regulations by offering customers the option to continue enjoying Dine Around.
Typically more than 8,000 people take part in a Dine Around event. This year, customers are encouraged to dine in their homes or have take-out at home to support their favorite local restaurant.
Restaurants across Okanagan offer a three-course meal priced at $ 15, $ 25, $ 35, $ 45, or $ 55 with recommended BC VQA wine pairings, BC craft beer pairings, or spirits and cocktails pairings. The event will take place from February 5th to March 7th.
Tostenson, President and CEO of BCRFA, stated that Dine Around is a great initiative to help restaurants, especially after a challenging year.
“Many residents are taking the opportunity to visit restaurants that they may never have been to or that they do not visit often enough. This is a win-win for both the consumer and our member restaurants,” he said.
Getting a three-course meal at a reasonable price isn’t the only bonus for Dine Around. Customers who take a photo of their meal and post it on social media using the hashtag # dinearound2020 can win a $ 25 gift card from participating restaurants.
