A 30-year-old Kelowna woman may face charges after colliding with a building and escaping Tuesday night.

RCMP tells Castanet the incident occurred on Nov.

Frontline officials were in attendance and found that the blue Kia SUV hit the apartment building and damaged the building, but did not report any injuries. Witnesses said the driver and the sole inmate escaped from the scene on foot.

An officer found a woman a short distance away who was the driver. The officer found signs of alcohol abuse while handling her.

The shortness of breath was read to the woman who was taken to the Kelowna RCMP department for a breath test. The driver provided breath samples that were above the legal limit.

The 30-year-old Kelowna woman has been released for a future trial. The full results of the investigation will be forwarded to the BC prosecutor for review and approval of the charges.

Rescue workers were on site in a residential building in Rutland on Tuesday evening after a vehicle apparently drove into a house.

The incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. in a house on Mugford Road.

A witness told Castanet News that he saw the vehicle as he passed the residence and it appeared to be in direct contact with the outside of the house.

Nothing is known about injuries yet.
