A movie is being shot on Bernard Avenue in Kelowna this week.

Champlain Media West Inc. and CMW Horizon Productions Inc. are partnering to produce an upcoming television movie called “Home for my Heart”.

The crew will be in the vacant building between the hooligans and Sushi Hama until April 14th – and they can hardly be overlooked.

“Home for my Heart” is a romantic comedy that has not yet been recorded on any network, but has a story style that is akin to films shown on The Hallmark Channel, Women’s Network and Lifetime.

“We’re starting to develop a strong relationship with the film industry,” said Chris Babcock, director of event development for the city of Kelowna.

“And we are always happy about various productions to come to the city and present our beautiful city.”

Babcock points out that this is a proven economic driver for Kelowna that can safely happen during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The city has consulted WorksafeBC and Interior Health to enable film production in a safe manner.

If you work or live nearby, there is no need to worry as there are no stunts, special effects, or loud noises in the movie. However, the area may appear brighter than usual in the evenings with fixed lighting and it will be busier than usual with the crew and important work trucks in the area.

There is currently no set date, time, or network for the film to be broadcast. Babcock says, however, that there will be more rooftop filming in the coming months. So keep an eye out for them.
