The Kelowna Right to Life Society has unveiled its new billboard on Highway 97 in West Kelowna.

The redesigned billboard replaces the group’s previous ad, which caused public complaints.

“It’s a gear shift and focuses on how abortion can harm men too,” said the group’s executive director, Marlon Bartram.

<p dir=In June, Ad Standards Canada ordered the removal of the previous billboard after investigating whether the ad violated agency regulations.

“They found that the ad implied that women were getting abortions frivolously and that it was hateful of women,” Bartram said.

“We weren’t legally obliged to take it down, but we decided to replace it.”

According to Bartram, the Kelowna Right to Life Society will discuss and design most of the billboards themselves and then decide which ones to put up.

“We believe that any ad we run will be questioned by abortion advocates. Their reaction to any life-saving speech is to censor it,” added Bartram.
