Dogs saved from house fire

UPDATE 5:35 p.m. 35
Lake Country Fire Department chief Steve Windsor said they were called around 4 p.m. for a report of a house with flames from the top floor.
“We could actually see the column of smoke from one of our fire halls,” he said.
The fire had burned the outside of the house on Hallam Road and the attic, Windsor explained.
The burning house contained a litter of eight dogs and puppies saved by a neighbor. Firefighters also rescued three adult dogs, one of which was hiding from the flames in a shower.
“It was taken to the Fairfield emergency doctors in Kelowna, it would obviously have a smoke inhalation,” Windsor said.
“It was a difficult fire, it’s in the attic so we still get fire pits in this attic,” he said, adding that the house was “a lot destroyed”.
No one was home at the time of the fire, the cause is unknown.
