West Kelowna Mounties get better $ 30,000 price of stolen property

Two lower mainland residents face numerous charges after the West Kelowna RCMP recovered over $ 30,000 in allegedly stolen goods.

A man and woman connected to a Ford truck were reportedly seen shoplifting high quality goods from local businesses between October 17 and 18, and a phone call was made to RCMP.

Within a day, the West Kelowna RCMP Community Safety Unit located the Ford van with two occupants in the parking lot of a Kelowna store. A man and a woman were arrested and taken into custody without incident.

After she was arrested, the van was confiscated and a search revealed over $ 30,000 in high-value goods believed to have been stolen from local businesses.

“The reclaimed goods included home improvement supplies, kitchen appliances, and various tools and machines of great value,” said Cpl. Bryan Mulrooney of the RCMP Community Safety Unit in West Kelowna said in a press release.

“Many thieves and shoplifters cost companies thousands of dollars in lost revenue every month. Our collaborative approach and relationship with our local asset protection staff is an invaluable tool in helping us fight productive retail thieves. “

A 42-year-old man from Langley and a 46-year-old woman from White Rock were conditionally released to appear in court at a later date. The investigation is ongoing and the matter is being brought to the BC prosecutor for investigation.
