Rain on the way?

According to Environment Canada, a high pressure ridge is making its way across the southern interior of the country, causing a rise in high daytime temperatures.

With temperatures rising in the next few days, most regions are currently expected to have the hottest weather on Friday and Saturday.

“There’s so much smoke that it muffles our daily highs a bit,” said Environment Canada’s meteorologist Doug Lundquist, adding that they hope the much-needed rain will fall later in the week.

“There is a system moving from the south that originated in the Arizona area. The moisture from it comes to us on Sunday. So we have the chance of showers and thunderstorms and maybe some rain. Hopefully just enough to give us a little cooler weather and some relief for a few days. “

“It could also come with lightning and wind. The rain won’t be enough to really improve the situation, but it’s not bad news to see a little rain,” added Lundquist.

The last time Kelowna saw rain was on July 7, when only 0.3mm fell, and before that, the region saw the driest spring on record.
