Current Kelowna City Councilor Andre Blanleil has publicly announced that he will support one of the city council candidates: Brad Seven.

“In my 21 years on the city council, I’ve been able to work with a lot of different people and see what it takes to be an effective councilor, and Brad has what it takes,” said Blanleil, who sits with Brad on a number of volunteer boards and committees, including a body that he chaired. He is a strong and passionate leader who works extremely hard, makes good decisions and fights for what he believes in moving forward. “

Blanleil has 21 years of experience in citizen politics and was first elected to the city council in 1993. On September 7th, he announced that he would no longer run for this election.

Seven was delighted with Blanleil’s support. “I thought Andre would support my candidacy, but I had no idea he would come out publicly to support me. It’s an honor to have his support, it means a lot.”

“I have great respect for the contribution Andre has made to the City of Kelowna during his 21 year tenure,” added Sieben. “His work has undoubtedly made Kelowna a better city to see and follow his heart regardless of the perception of others – I hope to bring many of these qualities to the council.”

Seven was a partner in Hotel Eldorado until it was sold to Argus Properties in June this year, and taught high school in School District # 23. He is also the former chairman of the board of directors of Tourism Kelowna.

Blanleil also encourages Kelowna residents to vote in the citizen elections. “Every voice is a voice. In the past our voter turnout in our community has been low, and if we want our community to continue to excel and move forward, we have to go out and vote, ”Blanleil said. “We have seen elections where only a few votes made the difference between being elected and not sitting in the council chamber. You have the right to vote, it is your vote. “

The general election is on Saturday, November 15th, 2014.
