A small business in Kelowna had unexpected traffic on Wednesday afternoon when a car crashed into the back wall.
Doreen Velin, the shop owner of Cruzwear Unlimited, said she suddenly heard a loud noise coming from the dining room around 1:30 p.m.

Then she went to investigate what had happened.
“I couldn’t open the door (fully) because everything was pressed against it,” said Velin. “And I saw that the car lights were still on and the car was in here and I said, ‘Oh my god, it’s a car! Phone 911! ‘”

According to the police, two vehicles were wiped from the side in the incident, including this one.

Velin claims a 23-year-old man drove the car into the store and wiped two other vehicles down in the process.

Velin says she was lucky because she could have had lunch in the room at the time of the incident, but a new employee caught her attention.
“I wanted to have lunch because it was 1:30 am and I was just starting to get in (the room) and the crash (happened),” Velin said. “So I really want to thank her for being here because I would have sat at this table and it wouldn’t have been a pretty sight.”

Cruzwear Unlimited is a clothing store located on Bernard Avenue and St. Paul Streets.
RCMP was there and allegedly took the man into custody.

Police said the vehicle was a gray Ford Focus, and the driver also hit an Acura MDX and a gray Audi A3, both of which were parked and unoccupied at the time.
Police said the driver, a 23-year-old Kelowna man, stayed at the scene. Police do not believe alcohol and drugs were factors in the crash.
Police said the man was fined $ 600 for allegedly driving without care and attention and driving a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
