If you are the disabled person who has an outdoor adventure dream that you have never realized before, then Render Digital Media wants to hear from you.
The Kelowna-based company is planning a TV series in which you can make that dream come true through “adaptive mobility”.
“We have a man who is a machinist by profession and who does the coolest things,” render producer Pamela Tomlinson told iNFOnews.ca.
The show will take the next level by changing the equipment instead of using the standard disabled sailing or skiing equipment. She gave the example from a few years ago when the company added a ski to a trail rider so someone could step on a glacier.
She wouldn’t name the network that airs the series or what the show will be called and leave that to the network to advertise. She said the show is funded by the network and the Canadian Media Fund.
“The presenters of the show themselves know what it is like when their entire life changes in an instant, as they have experienced it themselves,” said a press release on the casting call. “You will walk participants through sharing their own story and then begin planning and realizing a truly unique adventure with them.”
The team will use their “machinistic background” to customize the equipment so that participants can achieve their goals.
“Thoughtful and strategically planned adventures will inspire the participant, challenge him, restore his sense of freedom and remind him of who he is and what he can be,” says the press release.
They are looking for “dynamic and engaged participants with a disability, whatever that may be, with a desire to serve as a catalyst for positive change on a large scale.”
Applications can only be made by email.
Submit your name or recommend someone at renderdigitalcasting@gmail.com. Include the person’s age, details about the person’s circumstances, the ultimate wilderness experience, why, what the participant wants to take of everything, and a photo.
The application deadline is January 15th. Filming is slated to begin in June or July, Tomlinson said. Season 1 may be limited to Western Canada but is expected to take place nationwide.
