A local teenager crashes into a house on Boxing Day after drinking and driving in the Wilden area.

A Kelowna teenager had his vehicle confiscated after crashing into a house while drunk on Boxing Day.

Before 3 p.m. on December 26, RCMP received a call to assist BC Emergency Health Services after a pickup truck hit the outside of a house on the 1900 block of Hidden Lake Place.

The crash was captured by video surveillance from a nearby house where the green 1993 Chevrolet pickup lost traction and crashed into the house.

Two residents were in the house at the time of the incident and were uninjured.

“A frontline officer from the RCMP Municipal Traffic Section in Kelowna responded to the scene to investigate the collision,” says Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, BC RCMP Southeast District Press Secretary.

“As a result of the officer’s interaction with the operator of the pickup, a smell of alcohol was detected and the investigation turned into a driving disorder.”

The 18-year-old man provided samples of his breath at the crime scene, each of which resulted in failure.

The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries and was rushed to Kelowna General Hospital.

The teenager was given a 90-day road ban, during which his truck was confiscated for at least 30 days.
