A new Starbucks in the Dilworth Shopping Center hopes the city will see clear to allow it to post more illuminated signs than are permitted by municipal bylaws.

According to an application council will review at a Nov. 29 evening meeting, Starbucks is asking for one additional fascia and to vary directional sign regulations to allow for lit directional signs.

The current sign by law allows for businesses to have just two illuminated signs.

“The illuminated signs would be installed on the north, east and west sides of the building which are facing Highway 97, Leckie Road and into the Dilworth Shopping Centre,” a staff report states.

“The signs are circular with a diameter of 1.5 metres.”

Those signs would be 1.8 meters wide and 0.5 meters high and would direct traffic through the drive thru.

Planning staff have offered their support for the project.
