UPDATE: 3:45pm

The Vancouver Police Department confirmed Thursday morning’s search warrant was due to gang activity.

“We are conducting an ongoing criminal investigation related to violence and organized crime. We do not have any additional information to share at this time,” the VDP said in an emailed statement.

It’s not clear if any charges have been laid as a result of Thursday’s police action.

UPDATE: 3:13pm

Several arrests have been made after a search warrant Thursday at a home along Martin Avenue.

The Kelowna RCMP along with the South East District Emergency Response Team assisted the Vancouver Police Department in the execution of the search in relation to an ongoing criminal investigation.

“Although at this time we cannot comment on any of the specifics, this is an excellent example of how multiple police agencies united to make our streets safer throughout British Columbia,” said Cst. Mike Della-Paolera Media Relations Officer with your Kelowna RCMP.

Kelowna RCMP Cst. Mike Della-Paolera confirms police are conducting a search warrant at 1091 Martin Ave.

Kelowna RCMP, and ERT arrived on the scene just before 10:30 am

“I cannot provide any further details at this time,” Della-Paolera said.

UPDATE 11:13 am

RCMP appear to be focused on a home at 1091 Graham St. our reporter on the scene indicates that officers appear to be searching the home.

The RCMP ERT team has left the scene and police have opened up Graham St. and Martin Ave. except for the area directly in front of the house they appear focused on.

UPDATE 10:51 am

The RCMP Emergency Response Team is now packing up and leaving the area around the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club on Graham St.

RCMP police cruisers remain on the scene.

There is a heavy police presence on Martin Ave., near the Boys and Girls club on Graham St.

Reports from the neighborhood indicate the RCMP Emergency Response Team and multiple vehicles are in the area and the intersection at Martin Ave. and Graham St. is blocked off.
