West Kelowna City Council has approved a new townhouse project on the shores of Lake Shannon.

The council this week approved building permits for 58 townhouses, along with seven optional units of the future phase, at 2375 Shannon Lake.

The property west of the Shannon Lake Golf Course is the last vacant lot around the lake.

Together with the building permit, the council approved a height deviation for the development from nine to 12.87 meters in order to enable access to roof terraces.

“The terraced house is intended to enable independent living, as each unit includes an individual garage for two cars and level access,” says the summary of the development presented to the council.

“The design emphasizes a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. As a result, the units’ common areas offer exceptional views of Lake Shannon. In addition, approximately half of the units will have access to private rooftop terraces and all units will also have large conventional decks to ensure residents are encouraged to enjoy the best of the site outdoors. “

The development also includes park improvements in the sensitive bank area on the shore of the lake, which is being restored with native plant species.
