VANCOUVER –

Two Metro Vancouver residents face assorted charges after West Kelowna RCMP officials recovered more than $ 30,000 in allegedly stolen goods earlier this week.

Mounties said they were briefed on Sunday and Monday about a man and woman in a Ford van that allegedly stole high-quality goods from local businesses.

Items stolen included kitchen appliances and home improvement supplies, as well as various tools and machines.

Working with loss prevention officials on Tuesday, investigators were able to track down the suspects in a parking lot of a store in Kelowna.

A 42-year-old man from Langley and a 46-year-old woman from White Rock were arrested and taken into custody without incident.

The couple were released shortly thereafter, pending a future court hearing.

“Many thieves and shoplifters cost businesses thousands of dollars in lost revenue every month,” says West Kelowna RCMP Cpl. Bryan Mulrooney, in a press release.

“Our collaborative approach and relationship with our local asset protection staff is an invaluable tool in helping us fight productive retail thieves.”

The West Kelowna RCMP says the investigation is pending and the matter will be brought to the BC prosecutor for consideration.
