The province reported 16 new deaths related to COVID-19 in the past three days, of which 14 were in the interior health area.

Interior Health deaths had not previously been counted. Some date back to August 1st.

Some seem to have come from nursing homes. Interior Health’s latest numbers include eight additional deaths in long-term and care centers since Friday’s update.

Three of these are in the David Lloyd Jones Home in Kelowna. The long-term care home has a COVID-19 outbreak that saw cases jump from 25 residents and eight employees on Friday to 38 residents and 11 employees by Monday.

The other new deaths in nursing homes are two more at Cottonwoods Care Center in Kelowna, one at Nelson Jubilee Manor, and the first death of the current outbreak at Nicola Meadows Assisted Living in Merritt.

There are now outbreaks in ten facilities in Interior Health that represent 134 COVID-19 cases.

  • Nelson Jubilee Manor has five cases: two residents and three employees, with two deaths related to the outbreak.
  • There are three cases at Kootenay Street Village in Cranbrook: one resident and two employees.
  • The Brookhaven Care Center in West Kelowna has 30 cases: 10 residents and 20 employees, with two deaths related to the outbreak.
  • Long-term care at the Cottonwoods Care Center in Kelowna has 27 cases: 16 residents and 10 staff, with three deaths related to the outbreak.
  • Hawthorn Park Assisted / Independent Living in Kelowna has five cases: one resident and four staff.
  • David Lloyd Jones long-term care in Kelowna has 49 cases: 38 residents and 11 staff, with three deaths related to the outbreak.
  • Village at Mill Creek Assisted Living / Independent Living in Kelowna has three cases: two residents and one staff.
  • Nicola Meadow’s assisted living / independent living in Merritt has seven cases: four residents and three employees, with one death related to the outbreak.
  • Long-term care at Hardy View Lodge in Grand Forks has two cases: a resident and an employee.
  • Assisted Living / Independent Living at Sun Pointe Village in Kelowna has three resident cases.
