A new case of COVID-19 has been identified in the Interior Health region of British Columbia since Saturday.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the health region to 136.

The other confirmed case inside appears to be linked to an outbreak among foreign temporary workers at a West Kelowna store.

On Monday, Dr. Bonnie Henry reported that an additional person linked to the Bylands Nurseries outbreak tested positive, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 20.

Henry said Interior Health is working with the owners to support people who continue to self-isolate or quarantine as a result of this outbreak.

Meanwhile, no new cases have been identified at the Okanagan Correctional Center in Oliver where a person had previously tested positive.

“This outbreak remains under observation. As we know, there is an incubation period of 14 days so testing and monitoring is ongoing at Okanagan Correctional Center, ”said Henry.

She added that other tests related to the Okanagan Correctional Center had negative results.

BC Health Minister Adrian Dix said 10 of the interior’s coronavirus patients are currently in the hospital.

In the past week, eight new cases were identified in the Interior Health region, increasing the official case count from 128 to 136.
